WM Joan read a letter home from her travels. They visited Independence Rock, a stopover on the Oregon Trail, Hell's Half Acre, a 320 acre eroded stone landscape, where "Starship Troopers" was filmed, and Bear Lodge or Bear Tipi, designated as the first National Monument in 1906, where "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" was filmed. They visited the town founded by Buffalo Bill Cody, where Jeremiah Johnson, a real person played by Robert Redford... in a movie, is buried, and its Historical Center. Lastly, they enjoyed a rodeo. During Good of the Order, Gary Bell was the first to guess "Wyoming". WM Joan shared a couple "Betcha' didn't know" facts about Wyoming and WP Jimmie shared information about William F. Cody, who was a Mason and Shriner. We had quite a few members pay $5 to wear denim at the meeting to benefit the OES Home Capital Campaign. Afterwards, we had a "show and tell" of unusual souvenirs from members' travels, including: Lee Ann Eicher - cold brew coffee from AZ; Bob & Sandy Wymer - a collection of Hard Rock Cafe pins; Janet Erickson - a gold quartz ring from Alaska; John & Robin Webb Hoffman - a box of Treasure rocks mined in Put-in-Bay, stuffed chipmunk from Hoover Dam, Little Orphan Annie decoder pin from Cleveland, and an ostrich pinecone egg / kalidescope; Gary Bell - pen from Scotland made from whiskey barrel wood; Jimmie Walsh - Masonic ring made by Champion from stainless steel; and Joan Draper - carved redwood from California. |

Triune Chapter joined with the other chapters in District 6 for the “Team Tea” to benefit the Grand Chapter of Ohio OES Charitable Foundation. Triune hosted a table with nine attendees. Several Triune members donated items for both the live auction and the “fish bowl” auction. Triune members were also the successful bidders and/or ticket holders for various auctions. WM Joan read a letter home from her travels. They enjoyed a tour of antebellum homes in a city with more than 500 historic buildings. They visited Longwood, an octagonal-shaped mansion, the nearby National Park, which is a setting for two of Nevada Barr's books, Mt. Locust, a family farm and inn built in 1780, and Rocky Springs Campground with its old church and graveyard, and Port Gibson, the town General Grant found "too beautiful to burn". F...rom their campground, they could watch barges passing by on the river. The Sunshine song was "Old Man River". During Good of the Order, Mary Holman and Brage Elliot were the first to guess "Mississippi. WM Joan shared a couple "Betcha' didn't know" facts about Natchez. We welcomed 11 visitors from Lotus Chapter for Sister Chapter Night, including DGM Jen Garringer. Visiting sisters received a potted geranium; brothers a handkerchief folded into a shirt. Our Sunshine collection, designated for District 6, raised $107. After our meeting, members from Lotus & Triune formed teams and competed in a Pictionary-type game. Members took turns drawing pictures of songs, TV shows, and movies that teammates had to guess. While some of the answers were quite difficult and some of the members were drawing-challenged, everyone had fun! |

Inspection is over! Would you believe that we actually had more members present than visitors (27 to 22)? It was great to have so many of our members there to see our officers do the initiatory work for our DGM Jen Garringer. WM Joan started the meeting, as she has all year, with a letter home. This time, we didn't have to wait until Good of the Order to guess, as it was clear from the start that she was talking about our home state of Ohio. Robin Webb Hoffman & John Hoffman were our candidates and, this time, Brage Elliot was there for the initiation and able to welcome them as members of the Chapter. After the meeting, we enjoyed wonderful refreshments provided by Crown & Scepter. Thanks to all, who helped make this inspection a success. Look how happy WP Jimmie, DGM Jen, and WM Joan are..... and this photo was taken before the meeting started! |

We celebrated our 104th Chapter Birthday. 24 members enjoyed the potluck before the meeting. Anna Jender, an 11 year old student from Monclova Christian Academy, provided the entertainment. She is an accomplished harpist. WM Joan opened the meeting with a "sentimental journey" rather than a "letter home". She shared information from Triune and Grand Rapids Chapter meeting minutes from the years in which the members, who were honored wi...th 25-, 40-, and 50-year membership pins, were initiated. 50-year pins were presented to Bob Bachman by Gary Bell, Charmaine Lewis by Roberta Drouard, and Joan Moomey by Jeanne Roesler. 40-year pins were presented to Janet and Harmon Benschoter by Lynette Box. 25-year pins were presented to Mary Holman by Gail Walsh, Robert Roesler by Gail Walsh, and Sandy Wymer by Bob Wymer. Congratulations to all! The 2013 WM & WP, Virginia & John Dunn, were honored. During Remarks, they introduced their officers and shared highlights from their year. They also had memorabilia in Harmony Hall for members to review. After the meeting, everyone stayed to enjoy our birthday cake. DGM, Jen Garringer, was an honored guest. WM Joan read a letter home from her travels. They'd toured the Zane Grey Museum, which is located in the preserved home of this small town dentist, and watched crayons being made at the Crayola Crayon factory. They visited York, the first capital of the US, where, in 1777, the Articles of Confederation were adopted, and the Harley Davidson assembly plant and museum. Next up was the Snyder's pretzel factory in Hanover. The trip ended after several... days at the National Military Park, site of the most famous 2 minute speech in history. During Good of the Order, Sue Spore was the first to guess "Pennsylvania". WM Joan shared information about US 30, the main East-West route through Pennsylvania Dutch country. WP Jimmie shared a couple "Betcha' didn't know" facts about the Lincoln Highway. This was our annual meeting with reports from the Audit and Budget Committees and the Trustees. It was also Election of Officers. Congratulations to all, who were elected to serve Triune Chapter in 2017: Worthy Matron, Denise Moomey, Worthy Patron, Gary Bell, Associate Matron, Gail Walsh, Associate Patron, Jimmie Walsh, Secretary, Bob Wymer, Treasurer, Jeanne Roesler, Conductress, Betty Heninger, Associate Conductress, Debi Huffman, and Trustees Sue Spore and Joan Draper. A 40 year membershp pin was presented to Sue Spore by Gail Walsh, as Sue was in California, when pins were presented at the last meeting. |

We had a good crowd for this year's Mystery Lunch Trip with members of Rubicon Lodge and Triune Chapter. The 25 attendees took a meandering backroads trip through Grand Rapids to Bowling Green, where we spent time walking through the Simpson Garden Park. Afterwards, we wound our way to Perrysburg, where we enjoyed a delicious meal and fellowship at Social. We're already looking forward to next year's trip! Triune members included WM Joan Draper, WP Jimmie Walsh, Gail Walsh, Brage Elliott, Mary Holman, John Hoffman, Robin Webb Hoffman, and Debi Huffman. We had a good turn-out for Maumee #30's Rainbow Installation last night. A couple of the girls were wearing their new dresses, sewn by Mom Janice Sharp. The Chapter donated the funds for material, notions, etc. They are all excited to attend Grand Assembly in a couple of weeks. Pictured with the girls are our Worthy Matron and Advisory Board Members. Back row: Janice Sharp, Laura Sharp, Gail Walsh, Rita Fournier. Middle row: Jimmie Walsh, Joan Draper. Front row: Connie Sidel, Karen Ruscoe. Also attending were Debi Huffman and, on reception duty, Cassie Braithwaite. |

We welcomed WGP Bill Taylor, as he made an official visit to Triune Chapter in honor of his fraternal mom, PGM Gail Walsh. Our WM Joan warmly and graciously welcomed the 19 members and 42 visitors, which included PGM Gail's Journey of Life partner, Steve Farus. WGP Bill and and his wife Sherry received honorary memberships from Gail and Jimmie Walsh. WM Joan read a letter home from her travels. They'd crossed the big river and visited Effigy Mounds National Mon...ument, the town of McGregor, childhood home of the Ringling Brothers, Pike's Peak, a town in the region that supplied lead for the Union war effort, Dyersville, home to baseball field in "Field of Dreams", and the John Deere Tractor assembly plant and historic site. During Sunshine, the Organist played "Sioux City Sue". During Good of the Order, a number of members called out "Iowa", when asked to identify, where she'd visited. After the meeting, two teams were formed under PGM Gail (in the North) and WGP Bill (in the South). Each team guessed states or locations based on clues given by WM Joan or played by Organist Robert Roesler. PGM Gail's team came out the winner due to her much larger and vocal team. Thanks, WGP Bill, for spending an evening with us! |
